Holocaust Museum Visit
Yesterday we visited the holocaust museum. We got to experience listening to a survivor discuss his experience of the holocaust as a child, what his life was like before and after and how he survived the death camps. It was incredibly impactful to listen to him describing his life and amazing to see how he has dealt with trauma and how he has managed to have a beautiful life in spite of it. At the end of his talk he told us his message was for us to remember the holocaust and make sure it would never happen again and that he didn’t want us to be hateful people, that he believes being hateful is how the holocaust started. The fact that we are probably the last generation to get the opportunity to meet these people with these experiences is so precious and beautiful. We also got to explore the museum and get to see artefacts and hear stories of how people survived and what their lives were like. It was surreal to actually leave the museum. I was happy, strangely. I was grateful for this beautiful life I have been given and how amazing it is.

All year 10 classes recently visited the holocaust museum, we walked in and were greeted by volunteers and given a brief history of the holocaust before proceeding and getting shown some artefacts which we analysed. Then we broke up into small groups before looking at the museum and getting spoken to by a holocaust survivor. The experience was eye-opening and a great experience for all of us. The volunteers were very generous with their time and questions and provided some great insights

There were lots of cool artefacts including passports and clothing worn by people at Nazi death camps. Joe had a very interesting story and it was very sad to hear his story. Very educational experience.

I really enjoyed going to the museum, seeing all the artefacts and listening to Joe tell his story gave me an emotional connection to the holocaust and just how heavily it affected peoples lives for so long. I found it difficult to focus when we had to sit and listen for so long so the walk through looking at displays was definitely my favourite part, specifically the diagram of the camp.

My experience at the Holocaust museum was incredible. Listening to a real survivors story, all the information and artefacts they had was so heart-breaking to see and helped me understand the tragedy more in depth while also understanding individual stories. Overall I found the experience very educational and emotional.

I am a student from Fitzroy High school, I recently went to the Holocaust Museum with the rest of my year level. I listened to survivors of the holocaust and took part in discussing Nazi propaganda and the discrimination enacted on the Jewish people. I learnt many things and received the saying of never forget so the past never happens again as well as, don’t hate. All evil stems from hate.

The Holocaust Museum was a very interesting experience. We got to learn about Jewish peoples stories such as how they hid and different rules that they had to follow. We also viewed old documents and artefacts like forged identity cards, clothing, cultural items and more. We also got to listen to a survivor named Joe. He talked about his story and it was extremely emotional. I would love to go back again to explore more of the museum.

Yesterday we went to the holocaust museum, we got to look at different artefacts like letters and passports and got to look at some really interesting things like models of concentration camps. My highlight was listening to a survivor speak. Joe spoke about how he survived being taken and put into a camp. I found it really emotional and moving how he spoke about it and his story was really interesting.
