Brotherhood of St Laurence – Government funded financial support for families Saver Plus
Camps are an amazing opportunity for students. But they can be stressful for some parents to afford.
Saver Plus can assist with saving & budgeting for camps in 2025. See flyer below.
Saver Plus encourages parents to save $50 a month (for 10 months). Savings are then matched – a free $500 for education costs, making $1,000 potentially available for the school camp.
Families that start saving in August, will have their savings ready to pay their school camp fees in June 2025.
If there are families that don’t have students attending camp they may also still apply for the program and allocate the funds to other education costs.
Saver Plus will chat with families about eligibility:
Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
Payment from Centrelink and
Earning an income (employment, carer’s payment, or child support).
Please follow the enquiry link if you would like to check your eligibility and receive a call back – https://www.bsl.org.au/services/saving-and-managing-money/saver-plus/ or call the national number 1300 610 355 and a local coordinator will contact you directly.
Saver Plus helps families with budgeting for the cost to attend next year’s school camp.
The Brotherhood of St Laurence runs regular information sessions for parents/carers every Wednesday. The sessions go for 15 minutes.

Wollangarra – school holiday outdoor education programs
Wollangarra is a small outdoor education centre situated beside the Macalister River in Gippsland, which has been sending young people aged 14-17 to the high-country mountains since 1989. The living is simple and young people get the chance to discover Victoria’s mountains in small, well-supervised hiking groups.
Wollangarra is running their introductory Stage 1 programs this school holidays (Sept 23rd-27th) and is also running a 10-day extravaganza program during Term 4 (Oct 15th-25th). There is sponsored places available as well for those who need.

Clifton Hill Tennis Club
Juniors can now play for free at Clifton Hill Tennis Club if they are committed to join a Saturday morning team for Autumn 2025 season.
Junior recruitment will take place from 1st September and close on 30th October 2024. Parents will be notified of the tryout dates to determine skill level for team selection. It would be preferrable if the junior is currently taking tennis lessons but not a prerequisite. Players will need to be older than 10 and under 18 years of age.
The junior membership will remain activated for as long as the player continues to remain with the team and participate in competition play on a regular basis. Membership entitles juniors to free court hire, team registration or competition tennis balls.
This is an exclusive offer and will be available until teams are filled. Once teams are filled the offer will expire but the club will maintain a waiting list. Some on the waiting list who agree to commit to a team should a vacancy eventuate and play as an emergency player will be also given a free membership.
Free junior memberships are limited and priority will be given to players who live within 3-4 km of Mayors Park.
