Art Extend – Surrealist Masks Project
Students were introduced to surrealism and tasked with creating a three-dimensional surrealist mask, drawing inspiration from their exploration of various materials and research into surrealist art. The masks, constructed from a combination of different materials, could be designed either as decorative wall pieces or as wearable masks.
In developing their masks, students made intentional choices about materials, colours, and shapes to reflect their creative ideas. After completing their masks, students organised a group exhibition in our art room, taking responsibility for displaying the work, photographing the overall setup and individual pieces, and writing an exhibition didactic for their own creations.
Below are some of the student work images by Surafel, Muath, Mischa, Ella, Poppy and Isabel.
