Winter Sports Update
Fitzroy High School celebrated some incredible sporting achievements in the months of June and July.
The sports success began towards the end of Term 2, with 21 students qualifying for the Regional Cross Country event, held on a beautiful sunny day at Princes Park. The most notable result of the day was Melmo H finishing 2nd in the U12/13s division. This meant he subsequently qualified for the State Championships, where he was joined by fellow FHS students Ella L (U16s) and Franti V (U17-20S).
Our Intermediate (9/10) badminton team also finished on top of the Inner-north division and qualified for the regional finals which was held in Week 3 of Term 3. They finished runners up after coming up just short in a pulsating, 5-set final.
Other sporting events at FHS included our Year 7 and 8 football teams competing against other local schools in the area (see photo below for an all time rev-up from our Year 8 Evan). Green House also took out the final of the inaugural Lunchtime House Futsal Competition, scoring a last second winner to seal the win.
