2024 Careers Expo
On Tuesday 21st of May, our Year 10, 11 and 12 students took part in our in-house Wurun Career Expo.
This day provided our Year 10 students with the opportunity to further understand and explore their senior school pathway options ahead of making decisions around this later in the year. They were also lucky enough to observe a VET student panel discussing the practicalities and positives of completing a VET course as part of a senior school pathway.
All students from Year 10 – 12 were then provided the opportunity to attend the Careers Expo where we had over twenty five pathway and tertiary education providers in attendance. Students engaged with a range of notable universities, the Australian Defence Force, sports colleges, providers offering traineeships & apprenticeships as well as job skill and work support services for those interested in joining the workforce.
This event demonstrated the breadth of interests, skills and values at play within our student cohort and the range of providers that were on hand to speak with our students was incredible. Through running our expo in house we afforded our students the time to have one on one conversations with experts in a familiar and relaxed environment, something you don’t always get at the state wide events.
Careers and pathway education is a vital part of our young peoples development and so we are very proud of the robust and varied supports and experiences we offer our students at Fitzroy High School & Wurun.
