VCE OES Excursions
Both the Year 11 and 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies classes have recently visited the local Darebin Parklands as part of their introduction to the year’s curriculum. The year 11 class spent a sunny morning completing an orienteering course out there, working in small groups to navigate their way through the park and reach markers, as well as complete other tasks for extra points. The year 12 class spent their time with Park Ranger Peter Grenfell, who told the story of the natural and cultural history of the parklands, from local Wurundjeri uses, to modern management as a wastewater treatment location. The Year 12’s will use this as a case study in their upcoming assessment on historical relationships to the environment. We feel lucky to have such a rich and varied ecosystem so close to our school, and will likely be out there again this year.
