Year 10 Senior Pathway Interviews

September has been a busy time for our Year 10 students and their families as they make decisions around their futures and senior secondary pathways. Our Year 10 students work diligently with their Advisors and Discover teachers to reflect, explore and plan their desired senior pathway. This involves choosing which certificate they will pursue, what subjects they will study for the next two years as well as any VET subjects they might like to take.

All of this important preparation culminates in students attending a panel interview at our Wurun senior campus, where students deliver a portfolio presentation to a panel of senior leaders. Of course these presentations outline students desired subjects and chosen pathways, however they are much more than a tick box exercise. Students are asked to articulate and present who they are as individuals as well as learners, identify their values and character strengths, collect academic and extracurricular evidence of their progress and achievements, demonstrate future thinking by acknowledging potential career pathways and tertiary education interests that are linked to their subject choices.

This framework is designed to empower students and highlight to them that they have voice and agency in their future pathway decisions. It also emphasises the importance of being self aware, reflective and engaged with their education. These presentations hold students accountable for being invested in their education and contribute towards developing wonderfully articulate and self aware young people. Well done to all of our Year 10 students on completing this process and best of luck with your chosen pathways.
