End of Year 12 Celebrations
Wednesday 19th October marked the festivities for approximately 200 Year 12 graduates from Wurun Senior Campus. Here are some highlights from this unique day:
The group met at Collingwood College for a breakfast hosted by VET Hospitality students. We had whole group photos and were then escorted to the theatre where we found buckets of red roses and eager preppies. Sam Luck, principal of Collingwood gave a speech, congratulating us on (almost) finishing our schooling. Our names were called out in our Advisory groups and we were given roses by the preps – a tradition from Collingwood College for some time. Some of the Year 12s did this same gesture 13 years ago when they started as little preppies!
Our next stop was Fitzroy High and the train took us directly to Rushall Crescent. Having travelled across campuses in previous years, we were familiar with the route. Many of us had sat through lots of school assemblies before but this one was different. Year 7s had written us letters of encouragement and wished us the best for our future. There were live music performances, a speech from Linda Mitchell and a guard of honour to farewell us.
Our final stop, of course, was Wurun Senior Campus. We had a team of teachers cooking up a storm as we had built up our appetite. We were then tasked to make our way into the gym for a formal assembly where Chris Millard welcomed us and shared some profound words of appreciation. There were a number of awards for more than 30 different subjects and campus values of Inspire, Connect and Innovate.
We were truly grateful for this opportunity to be together before we had to put our heads down and study for final exams and assessments. We wish all the Year 7 to 11s all the best for the end of the school year and we are honoured to be part of the first graduating cohort at Wurun Senior campus.
