FHS Wellbeing Hub

Dear Parents and Carers,

At Fitzroy High school, the wellbeing of our students remains a central focus of everything we do. We are proud to offer our Wellbeing Hub as a dedicated space where students can access support when they are experiencing distress or require emotional assistance during the school day.

We would like to take this opportunity to clarify the intended purpose of the Wellbeing Hub. While we encourage students to seek help when they need it, it is equally important that we support them in developing resilience, independence, and healthy coping strategies—skills that are vital for their long-term growth and success.

Recently, we have noticed an increase in the number of students accessing the Hub for reasons that may not align with its intended use. In some cases, the space is being used as a means to avoid classroom learning or to seek comfort when faced with manageable challenges. While we acknowledge that school life can be demanding at times, it is essential that students remain engaged in their learning and face those challenges with support rather than avoidance.

To ensure the Wellbeing Hub remains a resource for those who truly need it, we will be reinforcing clearer guidelines around its use. Students experiencing genuine emotional distress will always be supported and cared for. At the same time, our staff are committed to helping all students build the resilience and skills they need to navigate daily life with confidence.

If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing or would like to discuss support options, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our wellbeing team.
