Year 9 Connect Driver Training
Fitzroy High School’s Year 9 students recently embarked on an exciting excursion to METEC Driver Training as a part of the school’s Connect program. This all-day outing offered students a unique blend of education and hands-on experience, focusing on essential road rules and safety measures.
In the morning, students participated in an informative theory lesson where they learned about traffic laws, safe driving practices, and the importance of responsible behaviour on the road. This foundational knowledge set the stage for the thrilling portion of the day: driving on METEC’s specialised track. With instructors guiding them, students eagerly took the wheel, navigating the course and applying what they had just learned.
The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the experience as empowering and insightful. “Driving made me feel mature; it’s a taste of independence,” shared one student, reflecting the sentiments of many. Others echoed similar thoughts, emphasising how educational yet thrilling the day was.
Overall, the excursion not only equipped students with vital driving knowledge but also instilled a sense of confidence and responsibility in them, paving the way for their future as informed and conscientious road users. This enriching experience is a shining example of the Connect program’s commitment to blending education with real-world applications.
