Melbourne City Mission – Reconnect and RAGE

Reconnect

Reconnect works with young people aged 12 – 18 (or young people aged 12 – 21 who arrived in Australia in the last five years on humanitarian or family visas) to stabilise their living situation, achieve family reconciliation, and improve their level of engagement with work, education, training and their local community.

Who is Reconnect for?

School-aged young people 12 – 17 years old who would benefit from support to address family conflict, school disengagement, contact with the justice system, unstable home life or house, and experiencing family violence.

How to access Reconnect

Reconnect is based in Braybrook and serves Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Moonee Valley and Melbourne CBD.

Contact a Reconnect worker on 03 9977 0023 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday to discuss referrals to this program.

Referrals to these services can be accepted from young people, family members, community agencies, other Reconnect services, schools, police, Centrelink, Child First services and Child Protection services.

RAGE

RAGE (Re-Navigating Angry and Guilty Emotions) is an in-school program that is designed to deal with the different stages of anger. This program entails six, two-hour sessions with each session focussing on:

Session 1: The many faces of anger.

Session 2: The four Ts of anger.

Session 3: Healthy expressions of anger.

Session 4: Getting through the guilt of Anger.

Session 5: Relaxation, exercise, and diet.

Session 6: Summary, Evaluation and awards.
