With guest speaker Daniel Quin, educational psychologist and parent: Supporting neurodiversity.
An initiative of the Support Group for Learning Diversity, a new group started by FHS parents which builds on the terrific work of the parent support group for students with dyslexia, started 5 years ago by parent David Huxtable, a great example of families sharing resources and information, supporting each other and working constructively with the school to support our terrific young people.
Daniel will talk about the impact of schooling from home on students with learning challenges such as Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, and how the school and families can work together to support these students in the transition back to face to face learning.
The presentation will include key strategies for supporting students at home with issues such as managing homework and friendships, as well as how to navigate the educational supports available and how to liaise effectively with teachers and FHS.
